The earliest phytochemical study was by Doetsch et al. [4], who reported the isolation of four alkaloids, namely 3,4-dimethoxy-β-phenethylamine, mescaline, 3-methoxytyramine and tyramine

Of all the pereskia species, the Pereskia Bleo seem to be the one that needs extremely warm weather. Anything below 18 degrees Centigrade, and the leaves begin to turn yellow and eventually fall to the ground. Ironically, indoors they will bloom almost any time of the year. Just give them light and warmth, and all will be fine.
